Well it was the Unicorns vs. the Kickin Chicks and what chaos it was.  Besides the unusually cold weather it was a good experience.  It was adorable watching all the 4 and 5 year old girls chasing after the ball.  They didn’t quite get the concept of the game stopping when the ball went out of bounds but overall they did good.  Charlotte was a bit upset that she didn’t get a goal but she had a great assist.  She stopped the ball right before it went out of bounds and then passed it to another teammate who did score.  I tried to explain the concept of an assist and that those were just as important to the game as a goal but she wasn’t having it.  Oh well maybe with a little practice she will get one next game.dsc_0112charlottesoccerdsc_0113

We went to the park one of the days that Neal’s parents were here.  The girls got to play with their cousins, Taylor and Payton and we had a nice picnic lunch.  It was a good visit with his parents and wish we had more time with all of our family but we are looking forward to seeing everyone this summer.

Sam loves his carrier which makes things so much easier for me.  I love his face as he peeks out at people…dsc_0010-3We tried to set him down to play with the girls but all he wanted to do was eat the rocks so that didn’t last long…dsc_0065-1The girls went for a walk down one of the trails and then played in the rocks for awhile.  I got one of each of their cousins too.

Neal’s parents were here last week during our spring break.  We had a nice time visiting and the girls really enjoyed spending time with their Grandma and Grandpa.  One of the days we went to the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens and enjoyed the afternoon.  I got a few nice pictures so thought I would share.  I am sure I will have some more pictures of the visit up soon.

A Spider!?!

Surprisingly I haven’t mentioned much about Sam yet.  Well after the incident the other day, what a perfect time to do so.

Sam has been crawling for over two months now and one of his favorite things to do is crawl around the dining room table looking for food or anything else he can find to put in his mouth.  Needless to say, we have been quite busy keeping our floor clean.  The other day Sam was up to his tricks crawling around.  He was chasing after the girls’ soccer ball having a great time when Neal noticed him chewing something.  He went to go get him and sweep his mouth, figuring that it was just a piece of paper the girls dropped on the floor, but what a surprise he got.  Yup you guessed it, my sweet baby boy had a spider in his mouth.  It was absolutely disgusting.  I have heard the urban legend that we all swallow several spiders a year in our sleep but this took it to a whole new level.  He has gone from Superman to Spiderman.

I am glad we didn’t get any pictures of that because there is no way I want to remember the image of that spider on Neal’s finger.  I have been meaning to post some of the new pictures of Sam though.  I wonder what it is about babies dressed up as old men that makes them so cute…

Goodbye Laina

My mom called me this afternoon to tell me that she had to put our dog, Laina, to sleep.  I say “our” although the last 8 or 9 years she has really been my mom’s dog.  We got her when I was 16.  My sister had just quit gymnastics and my parents said she could get a dog since she would have so much more free time.  She became our family baby.  We loved to spoil her and we taught her some pretty bad habits, but none of us really cared.  When my parents divorced 9 years ago, my sister and I were pretty much out on our own and she became my mom’s dog.  I know this was a very hard decision for her and I wish I could have been there to give her a big hug.  Laina was a loved dog and we are all going to miss her-Goodbye Laina.
